Why Do I need a Shopping App anyway?
What will it do for me?

All of us, at one time or another, have used a shopping list to remind us what we need at the store. The most common way has always been a slip of paper with a list of items to buy. It works fine, but has drawbacks:

Where is that list and my pen? If you haven’t started the list yet, you need to first find a piece of paper and a pen. If you’re in your kitchen you probably have a pad and pencil ready to jot things down as you think of them. But most of us are on the go a lot and a pad and pencil might not be easy to find. If you’ve already started the list, and want to add more items, you need to find that list and a pen among the many other things in your pocket, purse or wallet. On the other hand, for most people, your phone is with you almost all the time, so why not use it to make your list? This is where the ShoppingGenie comes in handy!

Genie has a Memory! The next time you plan a shopping trip, you’ll probably need to make a new list. Most of the items we buy, especially things like milk and bread, we’ll need again and again. ShoppingGenie not only remembers these things but also remembers when you bought them last and keeps track of how often you’ve been buying each one. It‘s able to present a list of suggestions dynamically ordered according to how likely you are to need them again. When time comes to make a new list, all you do is tap the checkbox of the items you need.

In the store, you just tap the checkbox every time you find an item and the item goes to the end of the suggestion list. This conveniently leaves only the things you might need next at the top of the list. As time goes by, the item you had added will slowly make it up to the top of the list.

More than one shopper? No problem! Shopping Genie allows two or more people to share a shopping list on the cloud. When the “sync” button is tapped on any of the phones sharing this list, the cloud and that phone are updated. This has a number of advantages. Assume Alice and Bob are sharing lists:

Bob needs bread and beer and adds them to the list and then syncs his phone. When Alice goes shopping, she can see, in addition to what she’s put on the list, the beer and bread Bob has added, without having to contact him. If Bob picks up some items at the store that Alice has added previously they will be removed from the list before she goes shopping. No more extra phone calls to make sure you have all you need!

So why not go ahead and try out Shopping Genie for yourself? It’s a lot of fun and makes planning your shopping really efficient.
